10 things to do before the professional packers arrive at your home

When you have finally decided to move, the dilemma of packing your goods must be threatening you. Stress and excitement must be taking place at the same time as a new home comes with a lot of happiness. To reduce you anxiety or stress, you can approach with packers and movers in Mumbai. You must be questioning yourself if you are required to do anything at all before their arrival to make the packing and moving smooth for yourself, the movers and your family

•    Get rid of all those useless items you won’t need again

It doesn’t make sense to pay for the items, get them packed and transport them that you don’t use at all. The total shipment is determined in the end so there is no point in doing that. It is very important to segregate the items you want to take with you and those you don’t want or you have not used for a year. Just donate or sump those things and sell the ones if they have any market value. Recycling is also a good option to be considered if there is any stuff that can be recycled.

•    Dispose of anything that packers won’t pack

Part with the items that the team of movers won’t agree to pack. Yes, even if you are paying for it, there are a lot of hazardous items that moving companies are not allowed to pack and move for safety reasons. It’s the law and the guidelines which are given to them.

Such items include:

1.    Hazardous items – items such as flammable materials, chemicals, paints and weapons

2.    Perishable food – frozen eatables. Don’t forget to eat and use the food which is already there in your fridge.

•    Make a checklist

Now that you have segregated the belongings you will be taking along. Make a checklist and write about the items you have kept for packing. It will definitely help you in two main reasons.

1.    You will have a detailed list of all the items that are ready for shipment

2.    You can check the delivered items and will be able to figure out if there is any item that is damaged or missing

3.    You can file an insurance claim with your insurer

•    No pack zone

Make a no pack zone for the stuff you won’t be carrying to your new place. Select one room where you will place all those things and write DO NOT PACK on it. So that the movers don’t go to that room by any chance. Also, communicate it to them verbally as well so that they don’t give you any excuse later.

•    Call for a family meeting

One of the most important things is to call for a family meeting. Each one should know what they are supposed to do when the team of movers will arrive at their place. You should be prepared to welcome a team of strangers to your home who will be taking so much of stuff from your place and transporting it you’re your new home. Make sure your kids and your pets are not around while the process of packing and moving is taking place. Make sure you make a safe move.

•    Your belongings are safe and secure

Moving service providers guarantee security and safety. Once you have handed over your work to professionals then you don’t have to worry about the security of your stuff. You will find your belongings as safe and secure as they were with you. Even if you arrange for a cargo truck to transport it on your own, you don’t get any guarantee for the security of your belongings if you do everything yourself.

•    Prepare household appliances for packing

Unplug and empty the large electronic appliances if they are supposed to be packed. For instance, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, microwave, oven and gas stoves. If you have some spare time then you can clean them from inside otherwise you will have to do that after the move. Your appliances should be ready to be packed before the movers arrive. Make sure you unplug them much before the time.

•    Pack small items that are close to you

Many small items are close to you and you don’t let anyone touch anyone. Those are the items that need to be packed by you. We know that you are paying your movers and they are supposed to pack everything you have kept for packing. But the things that close to our heart should be packed by us than to leave them to be packed when the movers arrive. As it will be a wastage of time if you pack them at that time.

•    Take pictures

It’s never bad to be extra cautious. Take pictures of everything your movers have packed so that you can cross-check when you reach your new house. You can figure out and compare the picture to the items that have been delivered. You can tell this to your packers and movers in Mumbai.
