Quick Tips for Safely Packing Your Plants During Relocation

If you are planning to relocate to move with your plants then this blog will be helpful to you. It is advised to connect with packers and movers in Chennai because they have separate carriers for plants in which they perfectly transport them.

While moving from one place to another, there are several chances that you will have to take all your potted plants with you. If this is the case, then it is important to know how to pack and transport your potted plants- there are a lot of things, which you have to do before packing them for move.

You should know that packing and relocating household plants is both easy and difficult at the same time- even if the procedure seems to be very simple. It is important to get some knowledge about the technique.

Here are some steps for packing pots for moving purposes:

1. Decide if it would be worth it

It is quite essential to keep in your mind that moving plants from one house to another is somehow risky and your dear leafy friends may not be able to survive the relocation.

Before you begin packing your flower pots for relocation, here are some of the questions, which will assist you in deciding if it would be worth moving them or not.

How much you are attached to your dear parents? Are you ready to take them without considering the risk involved?

Will your plants be able to survive the types of climatic conditions of the place you are moving to?

Is it the best time to move along with your plans?

2. Arrange for all the packing supplies

Before moving out you should purchase some plastic pots for your plants so that you can repot them.

Arrange for some sturdy cardboard boxes for easier and protective transportation of your beloved plants.

Arrange large sheets of wrapping paper to create a protective layer for your wide and taller plants.

Also arrange for a role of packing tape

3. Arrange Plants According to Size

Set groups of plants according to their sizes to save time while packing

Arrange for the packing process simply because the packing methods for different plants will be different

Begin packing flower pots with the ones that are small and finish on the larger ones or you can also do it alternately.

4. Remove plants from clay pots

Remove all the plants from their clay pots because it is very risky to move your plants in such fragile pots while relocating.

Always keep one hand beneath the base of the plants and another at the top, then all you have to do is slowly keep the pot upside down until the soil, which is inside it regulates and settles down in the container.

Tap firmly, if important, it will be all set to be placed

5. If there are any lost roots then trim them

If there are any lost roots then you have to trim them to keep your beloved plants throughout the move.

Keep in mind that it is quite essential to trim your plants so that they remain safe while loading and unloading

For safer transportation, it would be better if you trim all the dry leaves as well

If there are any infestations then you should treat those plants properly

If there is any plant which needs some special techniques then you will have to study it and then decide further.

6. Put the plants in the plastic pots

Now that you have trimmed all of them, then you should put these in sturdy plastic pots for safer transportation.

Then you can put that very plant in the centre of the plastic pot and fill the gaps along with the fixed getting line.

Make sure that you arrange for sterilized soil so that the soil doesn’t create a mess in the moving vehicle or the crates.

Before loading them, it is essential to check if the plants fit properly in the plastic pots

Make sure that you complete the work of repotting at least 2-3 weeks before the move because there are some of the plants that take time to settle down and then grow adequately. If you do it 1-2 days before then the sensitive plants will not be able to survive the move.

7. Protect the plastic flower pots for the road

Water your plants properly at least before 2-3 days in the winter and in the morning of the moving day if you are planning a summer move

Take soft packing paper and pack every pot in at two layers of it

For better protection of your plants you can use support funnel to keep them tied throughout the move.

8. Keep the pots in cardboard boxes

It is very important to provide some bottom padding to the cardboard boxes to keep your plants secured throughout the move.

There should be a lot of oxygen holes in the cardboard box along with the lids and the sides of every moving box so that there is proper circulation of air for your plants.

Then you can keep the wrapped-up flower pots into the moving boxes and keep them carefully with all the support.

If there are any gaps in the box then you must fill them with crumpled paper in order to immobilize them.

When you are done with all of these things then you must close the lid of the box and check if the plants are packed properly.

If you think that you will not be able to do it on your own then it is advisable to hire movers and packers in Chennai for better convenience and guidance.
