Move around your home room by room and start picking the things that you have to keep and want to take along in your new home. There are things like heavy furniture items including sofa, bed, dressing table, dining table, etc., are the ones that you need to take along. Items like kitchen appliances, home appliances, and similar other electric items that are necessary to take along. If there is anything that is not working properly then you can keep aside for recycling or donating. Keep the clothes that are in good shape and discard the ones that are not apt for wearing.

2. Recycle or Donate

Under this section, you must have the items that you do not want to use but they are in apt condition. Donating such items to needy people will fetch you many blessings too. Also, recycling will help the environment and make sure that you are not creating any mess for the climate. There must be many items that you do not want to use because they are old enough. You can donate them to the ones who need such items. You can also donate the furniture items that you do not wish to take along. If you are donating big and heavy items like furniture, rugs, etc., then schedule a pick up for the same in advance. Also, you can check out the list of charities that can help you in picking up your donations so that you do not have to worry about the transportation of the donated items.

3. Sell the things that you do not wish to use further

Don’t pile up the things rather sell them. Those clothes that do not fit you anymore but are in good condition can be sold out. You can donate the ones that can’t be sold. The same thing goes for your kid’s closet, bath shelves, and linen closets. You can arrange a garage sale and sell the items at a good price. Also, you can list the items on different online sites for better selling perspective.

4. Throw away the things that are no longer in good state

There must be a few things at your home that are no longer in good state but still you are keeping them at your home. Search your garage, basement, and storage rooms to find our such items and throw them away. There is no point of unnecessarily burdening your move. Also, look out for such things that will not serve any purpose in your life and discard them right away. Ask yourself whether you are going to buy that particular item again in your life? If your answer is no then you should throw it away. It is better to discard the hazardous items too as taking them along is quite risky. Still if you want to take them along then make sure that they will not be transported in the moving vehicle. Take them safely packed along with you.

What else you can do?

Even after doing everything mentioned above, if you are left with some of the items that you do not have to take along then you can opt for a short-term storage facility. Your moving company also offers this type of facility so that you can store those items for a short term until you sell them or donate them. Also, you can hire a junk removal company if you are unable to discard the items that you will not be using anymore. This type of company will clean your spaces including basements, garages, attics, and other areas of concern. Just keep whatever you want along with you and leave the rest to be removed by the junk removing company. How much time it takes to pack for a move?

When you are shifting to a new place, you are required to pack your entire home. And packing is not at all an easy task to perform. Packing your home takes a lot of time as you have a lot of things accumulated from years inside your home. So, it is better to start as early as possible when you come to know about your shifting date. Apart from the time that you would need for packing, certain other factors to keep in mind are how many things do you have in your home or do you have any helping hand or not. If you do not have anyone to help or you have a 9 to 5 job then your DIY packing process becomes difficult. At this stage, you have to hire professional movers and packers Delhi. They are capable of completing the packing task in a very less amount of time. They are proficient in their job role and pack everything within hours. Still, if you want to pack yourself then here are some of the things that you have to keep in mind. Let’s read further!

Things to consider while starting your packing procedure

There is no definite answer to this question that how much time it will take to pack all of your stuff. But, it is always better to start as early as possible. Also, you can plan a rough estimate and then add a day or two in that for ensuring complete packing till the moving date. Here are some of the factors that you have to consider before starting your packing regimen.

1. Size of your home: Before starting your packing, analyze the size of your home. A small apartment like a studio apartment just take a day’s time to wrapped up. On the other hand, a 3 BHK flat takes a lot more. So, depending on the size of your home, you should analyze the time that it takes to pack all your belongings. Give an entire day to the packing of each room.

2. Content of your home: If you have a lot of stuff in your home then it becomes difficult to pack and shift your home within the estimate time frame. It is always better to segregate your stuff. Keep the things that you know you will use after moving to your new home. Throw away, donate, or sell the things that you know you will never be going to use for whatsoever reason. Depending upon how much you have to pack, your packing days will be increased.

3. Organized or not: If you are one of them who remain highly organized then the packing time will be less. But, if you are not organized enough then the packing time will be more. Add one day extra for each unorganized room that you have. You would need a day for going through the stuff and then discarding the things that are of no use. Things that are in good state but you don’t want to use further can end up in your garage sale. Add a day for that too in your packing days list.

4. Having a helping hand or not: If you are going to do the shifting alone then it will take days to finish that up. You would need a helping hand to save a lot of time and efforts. Ask for help from your friends, relatives, or colleagues so that they can aid in packing stuff and saving your time. Even a single day’s help is more than enough. If you have elder kids then ask them to pack their room themselves. Ask them that if they have such things that they don’t need then separate them.

5. Save your time by stocking up packing supplies: If you are packing your products and you have to stop working because you are out of packing supplies then it will simply waste your time. So, it is advised to stock up the packing supplies like packing boxes, tapes, bubble wraps, packing paper, moving blankets, plastic wraps, and more. So, always make sure that you have all the supplies before starting your packing.

6. Always pick one room at a time: When you start packing, make sure to choose one room at a time. Start from packing the things that you will not require on daily basis. Packing one room at a time will keep things organized. Bouncing from room to room takes extra time. Start with the least used room of the house and then pack it entirely. After packing an entire room, you can also use the empty room as a staging area for the rest of your items.

7. Do not empty the dresser drawers: It is better if you keep the desks and dresser drawers as it is. Do not empty them rather remove them from the dresser and cover them in the plastic wrap so that the contents that are inside the drawer does not get spilled. You can do the same procedure with the chest and small cabinets, which are not that much heavy to lift. Wrapping the plastic wrap around the exterior to protect the items from coming out.

To Conclude

So, there is no particular time to suggest that it will take this much amount of time to pack all your stuff but yes you can follow the above steps to save as much time as you can. You can also take assistance of expert packers and movers in Delhi to save a lot of packing time.
